I bought this LOFT top last month and when I tried it on in the store I INSTANTLY fell in love with it! I’ve always felt like I can’t wear certain styles because of my body shape, but recently I’ve been trying different things and have realized that some of those styles actually make me feel so good & confident about myself!
I think that’s the secret of how to feel confident–not necessarily wearing what the world says looks good on you, but wearing what makes YOU feel good!
This is a huge issue in the world of blogging and something I know many girls struggle with. It’s a constant comparison game, and every blogger feels like they need to wear the most popular trend, even if it’s something they don’t even like that much. I know I’ve definitely done it, and I’m sure a lot of other bloggers do too.
As I’m writing this, I was reminded of the verse Romans 12:2, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
I also really like The Message version: “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit in without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
I also love the part of this verse where it says “by changing the way you think.” I started going to peer counseling at church, and the woman that I’m meeting with is helping me learn how to change the way my thought process works. Because of my depression, my mind tends to see things through dark-lensed glasses. And rather than seeing things through rose-colored glasses, which is always seeing the positive side of things, I want to see things through crystal clear glasses and see everything for what it is.
I think this is even helping me become more confident because I’m learning more about myself and how to be in touch with my feelings. I can already tell that my mind is starting to work differently, and I’m hoping that by the end of the 10 weeks of peer counseling I’ll be in an even better place mentally & emotionally, and be more confident in who I am as a child of God!
I know this post was kinda all over the place, but I hope that if you’re reading this you at least got something out of it!
Have a great week!
