Can you believe August is almost over?! This year has just been flying by. With the end of summer almost here, that means it’s time to go back to school for a lot of you too 🙁 Although this time of year kind of sucks, it can be exciting because it means that you can refresh your wardrobe and find some cute new pieces to sport on your first day of school! Whether you’re in college or high school, it’s always fun to look cute on your first day and make that first impression on your classmates & teachers. I think back to school shopping was always my favorite, even for school supplies. But I felt like there was always so much pressure to shop for that perfect outfit to wear when you make your big debut back on campus.
I took a trip to the Brea Mall last week to pick out a couple pieces that are perfect for the first day of school, but that I could also wear and style separately the rest of the year. Keep reading to see what I found…
The first item I knew I needed to buy was a pair of distressed black jeans. I love black jeans because you can wear them so many different ways, and they give just a little bit of extra flair and edge to any outfit. I found them at Express and they were having an extra 40% off all denim that day, so these babies were a great score!
To be honest, I had a hard time figuring out what top I wanted to buy. I was going to go with a drapey/silky 3/4 sleeve top, but I felt like it was too business-y for a back to school outfit. After spending about an hour in Nordstrom, I found this gorgeous Free People top that I just knew I had to have. I took several other items into the fitting room with me, but this flowy tunic trumped them all. I love this top for so many reasons. 1. It’s the perfect color for fall. 2. It’s flowy, making it super comfy for long days at school. 3. It’s a little longer, so you can just wear it with leggings if you want! (I already have) 4. Even though it’s a fall top, it’s sleeveless which is perfect for this time of year when it’s still warm, but you want to be wearing fall looks.
I ended up throwing on my black moto jacket that I bought from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and am completely in love with. It might be a bit much for school, but who cares?! It makes a statement 🙂
No matter what you’re style is, you’re bound to find the perfect Back-to-School outfit at the Brea Mall, or any Simon Mall for that matter!
