On Friday, September 10, the Beverly Center hosted Fashion’s Night Out 2010. FNO is a night where designers and retailers come together to showcase their fall collections, stimulate the economy, and get people out shopping.
Included in this night, there were a few different events. Starting at 4pm , there was a red carpet arrival for the VIP and celebrity guests. There were many different people including Lisa Love, the west coast Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Magazine, the Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, Stephanie Pratt from “The Hills,” and host, Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas along with many others.
After the red carpet, the guests were seated for the Opening Ceremony followed by the fashion show. In the opening ceremony, Antonio Villaraigosa encouraged the public to “shop till [they] drop” in order to help the economy. “Everyone here has got to shop today,” he said, “I need that revenue to keep police working and to keep parks open.”
In the fashion show, many stores showcased their best clothing included in their fall collections. Theses stores included Bloomingdales, Macy’s, Forever 21, Bebe, Traffic, and many others. The trends seen in the fashion show were: military, leather, leopard prints, faux fur and feathers. One specific outfit from Forever 21 that went down the runway included a loose olive green t-shirt with a leather studded vest over it, along with a gray and black leopard print mini skirt and a long black knitted scarf.
Following the fashion show, many stores drew people in with DJs, live models in the windows, champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and promotions.
