I’ve always been a fan of the ombré hair trend, and have been wanting to do my hair like that for FOREVER! I’ve talked to a couple friends that are hair stylists about them doing it, and they said they could easily do it. Then, I saw an ad for this new L’Oréal Paris Féria Wild Ombré box color in a magazine, and got really excited. Then, I saw that Emily Weiss from Into The Gloss did a video on how to do it. After watching the video, I knew I had to try it because it looked so easy! On Thursday, my friend Christi went to pick it up with me. First, we went to CVS, but they were all sold out. Luckily, Target had ONE MORE left, so I got it. So happy.
L’Oréal seriously made the whole process so easy, that I believe anyone could really do it.
Before coloring your hair, be sure that it is unshampooed and detangled. Also, drape a towel over your shoulders so that the bleach doesn’t get on your clothes.
The instructions say to clip half of your hair up, but I only did a little section just on the top of my head. The reason for doing this is so that you don’t have a straight line. It helps the dark and lighter color blend together.
Shake the packet of Shimmering Bleaching Powder, and pour it into the developer bottle. Make sure it all gets into the bottle and doesn’t spill. Shake the bottle to mix the two ingredients together.
Squeeze the contents from the Shimmering Lightening Creme tube into the bottle, and shake again.
Take the tip of the applicator cap off, and squeeze an even amount of mixture onto the brush.
Start brushing the mixture into your hair between the ear and chin level, depending on how long your hair is.
Continue brushing all around your head, making sure the ends are saturated.
Leave the mixture on for 25 minutes. To see if desired ombré is achieved, clean a small piece of hair using gloved fingers. If not lightened enough, re-apply and leave on for 5 more minutes. Using your strand test time as a guide, continue to check hair every 5 minutes until desired lightness is achieved.
Rinse hair and use the provided Conditioning Shampoo to get the mixture out.
When you’re done drying and styling it, it should look something like this!
Would you dare try this ombré trend?
P.S. Keep an eye out for my outfit post tomorrow showing off my new hair 🙂
