Yesterday I went on a hike in Black Star Canyon which is in the Saddleback Mountains with my friend Marcie. I’ve been hiking here once before (you can see that post here), but this time we took a different route. About two miles into the hike right before you start trekking up the mountain, there’s a slight divergence in the trail that heads towards a waterfall that’s very easy to miss because the sign is no longer there. We planned on going towards the falls last time, but didn’t see where it split off, so we ended up hiking about two more miles up the mountain, which was all switchbacks. So fun.
Anyways, this time we knew where to go to find the falls, so we dove under branches, avoided some poison oak, climbed up boulders, all to find out that there’s basically no waterfall anymore because it’s all dried up. Thanks, California drought. But nonetheless, it was a great and beautiful hike, and my legs are definitely feeling it right now.
It was a chilly day and was supposed to rain, so I wore a flannel & my favorite quilted puffer vest that I found at Marshalls (I also carried my rain jacket in my backpack just in case).
Have you been on any good hikes recently? Tell me in the comments below!
xo Katie
