The Plaid Bonfire Scarf

Outfit Details:

aerie Bonfire Scarf, Old Navy Sweater (last seen here), Jeans c/o Marshalls, BCBG Paris Bag c/o Marshalls, White Mountain Booties c/o Marshalls, AIBI Watch c/o

The beach in the winter is one of my favorite things. Living in Orange County, we have pretty much perfect weather year-round, so a trip to the beach, even in the “dead of winter,” is absolutely beautiful.

My dad and I headed over to the Newport Pier on Sunday morning to take a walk on the pier and grab some lunch. We never really get to have one-on-one time together (mostly because I’m so busy), so it was nice spending some time with him in one of my favorite places.

It was a little chilly on Sunday and there was a bit of an ocean breeze, so I bundled up in my new cozy Bonfire scarf from aerie. It’s probably the softest scarf I’ve ever owned, and literally feels like a blanket! I can’t wait to take it to the mountains with me at the end of the month to cuddle up with in the cabin. I’m also loving the color combo in this plaid print. You’ve got the classic red & navy, but then there’s an unexpected pop of lilac & some mustard in there. I was actually really excited about the mustard color because when I first got the sweater I’m wearing from the Old Navy segment I was in, I had no idea what I was going to be able to wear with it. Little did I know, its perfect match of a blanket scarf would arrive in the mail a couple days later! If I’m being completely honest, I actually wore this outfit three days in a row because I love it so much, and because it’s super comfy & cozy.

sting rays in Newport Beach, CA

While standing on the pier, we saw a couple sting rays swimming around in the water. This brings up two points: 1. We weren’t very far down the pier (maybe a third of the way, if that), so I was nervous someone was going to get stung! 2. The water was SO clear that day so it was kind of cool that we were able to see the sting rays!

Pizza Bar in Newport Beach, CA

After wandering around the farmers market, we headed over to the Pizza Bar for lunch. Neither my dad nor I had ever been there, but I’ve always walked past and wanted to try it. It wasn’t really what I was expecting, but in a good way! They have so much more than pizza, and it was actually a bit fancier of a place than I expected. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza which was absolutely delicious. It had tomatoes on it, which I’ve never seen before but really liked.
