The Tilden Hotel in San Francisco

San Francisco, CA

The Tilden Hotel San Francisco

As you may have seen on my Instagram, I made a trip up to San Francisco for the weekend earlier this month. It’s been one of my favorite cities for a few years, and I’ve been dying to go back since 2015! I flew up there with my friend Nicole, and we had a giant list of things to do and places to see.

Although I definitely got to check a few things off my bucket list (more on that later), staying at the Tilden Hotel was by far my favorite part of the trip! We were treated like royalty the entire time and the atmosphere of the hotel was so hip yet nostalgic, and just a few blocks away from Union Square, the Heart of San Francisco, in The Tenderloin.

Keep reading to get a little tour of the Tilden Hotel…

The Lobby

When you walk in to the hotel, they have a large open lobby with tables and chairs, as well as some couches in the back. Jason, the General Manager, told us their intention for this area is to make it a communal Chicago-style lounge area where people can relax and socialize.

The Deluxe King Room

We stayed in the Deluxe King Room, which had the most comfortable bed EVER and the perfect walk-in closet, along with a bright & clean aesthetic.  The bed was so comfortable that I actually almost fell asleep watching The Bachelor. Which never happens.

We loved the crisp, clean feel of our retro bathroom! We had a ton of fun getting ready for our nights out while blasting Ed Sheeran’s new album.

The Penthouse

On the top floor is The Penthouse Suite, which is a big open space (indoor & outdoor 2,100 square feet) used for events and meetings. It has a 360 degree outdoor terrace with views of the city and habitat garden installation by award-winning landscape designers James Pettigrew & Sean Stout. Eva, the Sales Manager, told us that they are completely re-doing The Penthouse within the next year, and I’m already excited to come back and see the renovations!

The Cafe at the Tilden

One of my favorite parts of the hotel was that they have their own little coffee shop! They serve Equator coffee & tea and Jane pastries. I got a caramel latte the first morning, and my usual vanilla latte the next day, as well as a coffee cake which was SO good! My mouth is watering just thinking about it…

The Hummingbird Garden

When traveling for leisure or for work, it’s more than necessary to find some downtime to relax and recoup amidst the hustle and bustle of a city like San Francisco. The Hummingbird Garden is the perfect tranquil oasis to do just that. With beautiful succulents, sweeping trees and a lively koi pond, this spot was a treasure to sit back, relax and breathe in. The Hummingbird Garden allowed us to feel like little kids again and enjoy the wistful scenery.

The Douglas Room

The Tilden’s brand new bar & restaurant, The Douglas Room, opened just two days before we arrived. We went to grab some drinks before dinner on Friday, the first night we were there. As we arrived at the bar’s opening time I wasn’t expecting it to be too busy, but it was PACKED when we got there! In fact, we grabbed the only two seats available, which were at the center of the bar. Our bartender, Michael, could not have been more accommodative and attentive while serving us their “La Di Da Di” and “Tilden Highball” delicious cocktails. As an appetizer, we also ordered the “Smoked Sturgeon” and delicious “Tots.” Nicole and I had so much fun before heading off to dinner.
