I am so excited today about giving y’all a massive tour of the Cactus Moon Retreat! I stayed here with Taylor & Ariel last week in Yucca Valley, CA (right outside of Joshua Tree National Park) and it was so magical (watch Tay’s vlog from the trip HERE). Lately, I’ve realized that there’s something so serene and captivating about the desert, which is why I keep going back. I hadn’t been to Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree in almost a year and a half and was very excited to be back and explore more!
Cactus Moon Retreat is a “mid-century jewel with a private yoga studio, fire pit, bbq, pool and detached converted horse stable pool house on 2.5 acres of Mojave desert” (airbnb.com). This fairly new Airbnb has six rooms, three in the main house and three in the pool house. Since it is an Airbnb, it is only rented to one party at a time, and is always 100% private.
I feel like renting Airbnb‘s when traveling is definitely the way to go! You have so many amenities that a hotel usually does not have like a full fridge, washer & dryer, and in this case… a beautiful YOGA STUDIO and POOL all to YOURSELF!
Now, let’s take a tour, shall we?
Main House
Living Room
Includes a fireplace, cozy couch, and large windows, letting in tons of natural light.
obsessed with that bench ^
Dining Room
The long table & benches just call for a family gathering, or even a friendsgiving?! We might have to come back here closer to Thanksgiving 😉 You may have seen on Instagram that we made a SUPER yummy and Pinterest-looking breakfast the last morning, which I will be sharing next week!
The Kitchen
We definitely spent a good amount of time in here because both Taylor & Ariel are super into eating clean and healthy! We (er, mostly them…) made a few super yummy meals! The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, utensils, pots & pans, and even spices & oils!
The Sun Room
There’s a reason why this is called the Sun Room… There are windows all around, letting in the amazing desert sunlight!! It made me so happy. It was definitely one of the warmer rooms during the middle of the day, but it was nice to open up the windows in the evening and let the breeze flow through. Perfect for relaxing to enjoy a midday nap, book reading or meditation. There’s also a nice TV with full cable (I watched Pretty Little Liars on Tuesday night ?) and a DVD player.
The Office (and Laundry Room)
On the way from the sun room to the master bedroom, there is this long desk, looking out to the yard. I wish I would have made time to sit here and work, but it was a couple of crazy days! Right behind this shot below, there is a washer & dryer.
just in case you’ve got some kiddos with you ^ ?
The Master Bedroom
Oh, man… Where do I even start? The master bedroom & bath were seriously GOALS! Once again, this room had SO much natural light coming in through the large sliding glass doors opposite of the bed. If you keep scrolling down, you’ll see my dream bathroom. Like, seriously. A gold shower, circle mirrors, old fashioned bath tub… YES PLEASE!
Bedroom 2
This was the room that I stayed in mostly because I just LOVED that hanging tapestry!! I think I need it in my bedroom at home.
Bedroom 3
This was Taylor’s room, which was right next to mine.
The Pool House
And now… The Pool House! This was a separate building away from the main house. It has three bedrooms & 1 bathroom. This first bedroom below was my favorite room on the entire property! Just look at those colors ?
Outside
The property is a total of 2.5 acres, so there’s a lot of space! Up by the Main House, there’s a fire pit circle & chairs, which we didn’t end up getting to use (once again, we didn’t have enough time!)
Then as you can see on the left side in the picture below is the pool & pool house. We spent a couple hours down by the pool soaking in the desert sun, cooling off in the water, and of course taking pics.
The clean, elegant desert decor is so refreshing. It was such a joy staying there. If you’re planning on making a trip to Joshua Tree, you definitely need to stay here at the Cactus Moon Retreat! Or even if you’re not already planning a trip, come out just to stay at this gorgeous & relaxing place!
See more from my stay here and here.
Thanks for reading and happy travels!
