Welp, as of today, I’m in the last year of my 20s 😅 It’s kinda scary, but also exciting because apparently your 30s are supposed to be the best, haha. What’s really cool is that I’m basically exactly where I thought I would be at this age–happily married, no kids *yet,* and a thriving career. And I’m pretty happy with it. I can honestly say that I’m content with where my life is at right now. I couldn’t say that a few months ago though, and that’s all just a mindset shift.
I’m also excited for this next year because I’m adding another part onto my photography business, which I’m SUPER excited about! Maybe I’ll tell you more soon 🙂
Since it’s my 29th birthday, I wanted to share 29n things I’m thankful for. Some of them will be serious, and some of them might be more fun or goofy 🙂
- First and foremost, my Savior, Jesus Christ. My relationship with Him isn’t as strong as I want it to be, but I think now more than ever, I am so thankful for the grace and hope He gives us.
- My husband, Colton! All I’ve wanted in my life for so long is my husband, and I finally have him. He’s my best friend and I honestly want to spend all my time with him haha. God brought him into my life at the perfect time, and he’s everything I wanted.
- My wedding!! We got married this past May 2021 and it was honestly my dream wedding. We got married in the mountains with 20 of our closest family and friends and it was perfect. See my wedding blog posts here.
- I’m going to count this one as a separate number, haha, but that we got to have our wedding, even with all the craziness of the world over the last couple years!
- My job! I feel so blessed to be able to be self employed and do what I love (photography & blogging).
- This is kinda of a continuation of the last one, but I’m so thankful for how God has provided financially since we moved to Texas. I was worried about re-starting my photography business here in Dallas, but I’ve still been getting inquiries with little to no effort on my part!
- I’m thankful for some of the clarity and direction God has given me for my photography business. Like I mentioned earlier, I’m adding on another part to my business, and I think this will be so fulfilling and make more of an impact on others!
- Six Figure Stoke
- This past August, I saw a doctor in Houston who has helped me tremendously with my depression and adrenal fatigue that I’ve been dealing with for a while. I actually have the energy to do things during the day!!
- My kitty, Mia 🥰 She can be quite a brat sometimes, but we love her haha
- Our apartment! The location isn’t quite what I wanted, but our place was renovated right before we moved in with all new appliances and everything, and WHITE CABINETS!!! This was a must for me haha
- That we moved to Texas this past June. It’s so much more affordable and this state just fits more with our personal beliefs and values.
- That we’re out of California!! I believe California is one of the most beautiful states in the country because of the diversity in terrain, but it has just gotten too crazy and too expensive. And it just keeps getting more expensive!
- That my parents moved here to TX too! They’ve been here since the beginning of November.
- I’ve been learning a lot about politics and just things that are going on in the world these last couple years, as I’m sure everyone has. It’s kind of hard to not turn a blind eye to things these days. But my eyes were opened back in June 2020 and I’m so thankful for that.
- My new friend, Alexa, here in Dallas 😊 One of my biggest fears about moving to a new state was making friends. Alexa and I were friends on Instagram for a while and we hung out just a couple weeks after we moved here and we really hit it off, haha! We’ve hung out a ton since then and can relate to each other in so many ways, which makes it easy being friends!
- I reconnected with one of my best friends from middle school while we were in Austin last weekend, which was wonderful! She’s a wedding planner now, and we’re actually going to collaborate on a styled shoot in a few weeks which I’m so excited about.
- We only live about 20-30 minutes from downtown Dallas, which I love. We’re still in the suburbs, but I love being so close to the city with all the cute photo spots, trendy, restaurants, etc. I lived an hour to an hour and a half away from Los Angeles when we were in California, so I didn’t go that much. LA was also not a great place to go after 2020 anyways though 🙈
- My Instagram/blogger friends! I love getting to connect with other girls who also love pink & fashion haha
- My mom’s health! She was not doing well at all in 2020 (could have died, not Covid related) and I am so thankful that she’s doing much better now and is here with us.
- I’m so thankful that I actually have amazing in-laws haha! I was always scared that I’d end up with a “Monster In Law” (movie reference) but that’s definitely not the case 🥰
- That I have a car that runs and doesn’t give me too much trouble! As much as I would like a new car, at least I have one, right?
- This might sound stupid, but I’m thankful for Cutwater Margaritas 😂
- Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey. I’ve learned so much from this podcast and continue to each week!
- I don’t want this to come off the wrong way, but I am so thankful that God gave me an empathetic heart that just wants to love people and wants people to feel loved. Yes, sometimes my heart hardens, but for the most part, my heart is pretty mushy and I get emotional about some of the silliest things 😂 Like we were watching The Blindside the other night, and I forget which part it was, but I just started crying because I was thinking, no kid should have to live like that or deal with that. One of my dreams is to adopt one day so that I can give a child, that might not have a good life otherwise, a good one. Who knows, maybe we’ll end up fostering and helping more than one child!
- That I’m not a kid or teenager right now. This world is getting crazier by the day and I am so glad that I don’t have to go through it in my most developmental years. My heart breaks for the kids who have had to deal with the craziness in school over the last 2 years.
- Costco! Once we moved to Texas, we started shopping at Costco and it’s a life saver. Our favorite things to get there are the taco platter, big cases of lime Topo Chico, and currently the chicken tortilla soup.
- Okay so my favorite thing to watch the last couple years has been Whitney Port’s youtube channel and the reaction videos she does with her husband, Tim! They started out watching The City, which Whitney was on, then did The Hills, and now they’re on Laguna Beach. The Hills was my absolute favorite so it’s been so fun to watch these shows again. Whitney and Tim are also hilarious and make me laugh so much 🤣
- That I’ve been able to find cool spots to road trip to in Texas! When we moved here I was so worried about not being near cool places anymore, like we were in California. But I’ve been doing lots of research and there’s actually so much!! They’re mostly just a longer drive. I’ll hopefully be sharing some of that here on my blog soon! 🙂
