On the last day that my dad and I were in New Zealand, he took me on a hike up to Mount Eden, which is one of the several inactive volcanoes in Auckland, as you will see in the pictures below. The weather app predicted that it would be gloomy and rainy all day, but it cleared up for a few hours, so the hike was absolutely beautiful! I’m not exactly sure how long it was, but my guess is that it was about 2km up to the top, which isn’t long at all! When we got to the top, it was breath-taking! (in more ways than one haha) When standing at the top, you get a full 360 degree view of Auckland and beyond! It’s amazing!

It was totally crazy standing on the top of an inactive volcano! I’m not sure how long ago this one erupted, but it’s just crazy to think that there was once lava flowing out of this mountain!
By the time we walked back down to the car, it was early afternoon so we drove down the hill into town where there were a bunch of shops and cafes. At first, we walked into Rad Cafe which was super trendy and totally something you would find in LA, but it was a little expensive, so we walked further down to Jones the Grocer which was the perfect place to grab coffee and something quick for lunch. I had the orzo pasta salad and chicken sandwich which were both delicious!
If you’re ever in Auckland, New Zealand, definitely take the time to hike Mount Eden!
